January 7, 2013 by nbgarrett
The past couple of years, our home church has taken January as a season of renewed interest in the discipline of prayer. “It is a time for us to replenish our passion for God and His Word, the church, the lost, needy and broken. It is a time to reconsider our responsibility and opportunities to engage the world with the good news of the glorious triune God who loves and lavishes grace upon us.”
This is exactly how we want to begin this new year as well. As we focus on prayer at church, in our home group, and as a family, we also want to pursue prayer in our mission to Romania and our ministry of Partner Development. And we want to invite you along with us!
I’ve been studying in Genesis the past few months and just got to the passage about Melchizedek, the priest and king who blessed Abram. Naturally, this study brought me to Hebrews where I’ve been reading about Jesus who is our High Priest and King. What a glorious grace we have in Christ that He makes it possible for us to approach the throne of the Almighty God and ask Him for help! It is because of the gospel of Christ that we can humble ourselves before Him and cast our anxieties on our caring Father (1 Peter 5:6-7).
I encourage you to spend some time in prayer today. Thank God for the marvelous gospel of grace He has given us! Thank Jesus for interceding for us and giving us access to the Father! Thank the Spirit for convicting and encouraging our hearts and for helping us in our weakness!
Please pray for our family today:
Pray through Ephesians 1:15-23, 3:14-21
Pray that the Lord would draw our hearts to Himself, to expand our vision, and to increase our affections for Him.
*We have a desperate need for consistent prayer partners who will commit to praying for us at least once a week. Please consider partnering with us in this way. Sign-up for our prayer calendar here.*
